Description
This painting is of a taxidermy dove I studied at the Horniman museum in London.
I often work from collected animals, from zoos, museums and live and dead animal display. For me these creatures and their loss of wildness is incredibly poignant.
In the painting I am striving for juxtaposition – between light and shadow, beauty and darkness.
The title is taken from a quote by Shakespeare and exemplifies the idea of the beauty beyond life.
